Drawing 201 & 301 (MAR 23 - APR 20)
Meeting takes place every Sunday from 10am to 1pm, excluding APR 13th.
This is a beginner to intermediate drawing course, which offers a deeper exploration into the philosophy of drawing and application of both perceptual and abstract foundation.
Participants will investigate the role of marks in a drawing and learn how to subject the world through this unique set of limitation presented by the 2 dimensionality of a surface or substrate. Topics of plasticity (translating 3 dimensional world into 2 dimensional space) and economy will be emphasized through transcription, observational drawing, and combining both worlds. In these 4 meetings, participants could expect to work with a range of subjects including a life model, art historical references, still life, etc. and walk away with confidence in drawing.
Supplies needed:
- Bob’s Fine Vine Charcoal
- Graphite pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)
- Rubber eraser
- Kneaded eraser
- Chamois cloth
- 18” x 24” drawing paper pad
- Spray Fixative (Workable or Final both work fine)
Easels and drawing boards will be provided at the studio.
